    10% of people in the U.S. have a medical condition which could be considered a type of invisible disability and invisible disabilities are the most common type of disability in the workplace today. ADA is designed to provide assistance so that individuals can perform the expectations of their role – not set up barriers and roadblocks of what they can’t do.  Presentation will provide information on how to navigate the interactive process and effectively implement the ADA regulations into your workplace

    Key learning objectives or key “take-aways” for the Presentation:

    The presentation will include 

    • What is a disability
    • Steps for an effective interactive process
    • Major Life Activities - what are they and how they impact ability to work
    • Types of Reasonable Accommodations
    • Leave as a reasonable accommodation

    • Updates on 2025 Executive Orders and pending bills that shape disability compliance in the workplace

    Speaker Bio:

    Martha Bryson, has been an HR practitioner for over 25 years. She has her Master’s in Legal Studies, SHRM- SCP and SPHR certifications. She also holds the SHRM Specialty Credentials for People Analytics and for Total Rewards.  Her career has been in hospitality, entertainment, and healthcare.  As the Manager, Benefits for Chapters Health System, she oversees insurance, retirement, and workers comp for approximately 3500 employees in 23 states.

     An active SHRM volunteer, Marty served in numerous roles at the local level including president in 2006. She was awarded the HRMA of Southwest Florida Human Resources Award of Excellence in 2003 and the District 8 Lifetime Achievement Award in May of 2019. She is a member of the SHRM Voice of Work Research Panel.  Marty has served the HR Florida State Council in a variety of positions.  2025 will be her 13th year on the Executive Committee where she holds the position of Immediate Past President.
